Kimber Makes A Difference

Kimber Makes A Difference

The decision our family made to send our daughter to Kimber Academy is one that has reaped many great rewards, not only for her but also for our whole family. Aside from the educational benefits, we have seen a definite softening of her personality. She has more gratitude & kindness. She desires to do what is right; she’s eager to serve others & loves to share the knowledge she is gaining with all who will listen. She is excited to go to school & comes home with a positive attitude.

I feel more confident about her safety both physically and emotionally. She is rubbing shoulders daily with teachers and students of high moral character, great intelligence and like-minded aspirations.

Kimber Academy has given her the opportunity to develop a thirst for education, as well as vital life skills resulting in a very well rounded experience. –Mother of 10 year old student in Junior B class

“I wanted to write you and tell you what a great year my daughter had at Kimber this year. She has enjoyed learning about the 1900s this year in history. After class learned about Henry Ford, she came home and asked if we could do a report on him. This is the first time any of my four children have requested to take on more work than what was assigned. She truly wanted to know more.

She has also learned more about the gospel this year, an added bonus! I knew that Kimber was doctrine-based, but what a wonderful thing it has been for her to start each day with a devotional at school and then have all the subjects she is learning tie into the gospel. I love it when I am there to help in the classroom and feeling the spirit, it’s a wonderful thing.

Kimber was an answer to prayers for us on behalf of our daughter. We knew that public school just wasn’t working for her but we had no other options. Sending her to Kimber was a leap of faith that we are so thankful we were willing to take.” Mother of an 11 year old Junior B Student

“Kimber Academy helped me bring out that love of learning I never knew I had. That means I love doing math as opposed to the way I didn’t before. [Next I’m going to try science] and then I’ll work on history… [Kimber] also helped bring out the love of Language Arts.” 12 year-old Senior class student

“Kimber Academy has helped me socially and academically. Socially it has helped me to better get along with other people. Academically I have grown because I filled in all the holes in math and science. I have learned so much.” 14 year-old Senior class student

“Kimber is helping me in many ways. One way is the people I’m around. They are all nice and helpful. Another way is the history classes we have. Book of Mormon history helps me understand it much better. Normal history helps in the same way. At regular school a lot of what I learned I knew, but at Kimber I learn many new things every day.” 12 year-old Senior class student

“Kimber helped me to try to go to bed earlier instead of 11:00 or 12:00. I now have more of a social life…[and Kimber] has showed me that I can still look good without having to wear jeans (even though jeans are nice!) or be immodest (not that I do!).” 13 year old Senior Class student

“Kimber has helped me by… not putting any pressure on me to do my work. It has allowed me to move up instead of staying behind which made things easier but more challenging at the same time. It has helped me become more independent in my work. Now I don’t have to wait for others to move higher in my studies… It has helped me by letting me go home to do work and to work in groups who will help me if I’m stuck. And it helps by having a dress code and where everyone is nice to you. And where the school is only four hours long so if I don’t finish something, I can go home to finish it. This school has been a more helpful way to learn more.” Non-LDS 13 year-old Senior class student

“To me Kimber is one of the greatest schools I’ve ever been to. It has taught me to be a better son and brother. After a week in Kimber I never wanted to go back to a [previous kind of] school again. It’s well worth the money. It is the best investment for your kids. I like Kimber’s rule that you can’t be taught if you don’t want to. It is a very true statement. So every day when I get out of bed I choose to be taught.” Non-LDS 14 year-old Senior class student

“Kimber has helped me want to learn instead of being forced to learn. I’ve scored at [above grade level] because Kimber let me learn at my own pace. Kimber helped me want to do school work on weekends. I know everyone in my class and even in my school… Everybody is nice and we all play on Park Day.

Once I started going to Kimber my family got along a lot better than we did before. I am [frequently, personally] requested by a Junior B student to help him with his work. I am a lot happier than at my last school. Kids were mean, and got in fights almost every day and some kids were doing drugs in the bathroom…

Something Kimber [could improve on,] I was thinking we could start a tennis team. My [siblings and I] could teach anyone who wanted to join. We could teach them after school and we would do it for free! Besides that this school is great. My whole family is coming back next year for sure. I will probably graduate from here then go to college.” 11 year-old Senior class student

“Now that I have been in Kimber I actually look forward to coming to school. I have learned loads. Kimber has taught me a new way of learning and with this new way I am learning more and what I want to learn, not just what the state and my teachers want me to learn. I have learned so much about the Book of Mormon in particular. Dr. Kimber has so many ideas that I never would have thought of.

I have learned more in many different areas but I will only talk about four. Kimber Academy ties spirituality and the gospel in to all of the subjects. It is really cool to learn how the gospel ties into math, language arts, and science. It is especially interesting in history because we still learn about civilizations and important events and stuff, but once in a while we do things like compare the Nicene Creed to the LDS church.

History has always been my favorite subject and I love the way they teach it at Kimber. As I said before, I love to come to school now as opposed to [my previous type of school] where I absolutely did not like Mondays because that was the first day of school. When I first entered Kimber I was afraid that I wouldn’t make friends because all through K-6th grade I had had the same group of friends. But I have made great friends here.

Personally I love to do theater. Since there is a theater class I have made friends who like to do theater too. Since [Kimber’s school] hours are so short people think that we don’t learn as much but that is not true. Since it is mostly independent study I have progressed rapidly. To prove it I have done four math books in just this year. Kimber Academy is a great school I am very happy to be here.” 12 year old Senior Class student

“I just wanted to tell you how grateful I am for all you do for me and our class. When I first came to Kimber I did not want to be there at all! Throughout the year I did not get much done and didn’t think I could ever learn anything if nobody was going to teach me.

With the spirit and your wonderful testimony and guidance my attitude became better. But I couldn’t have done it without YOU!! Closer to the end of the year I have enjoyed [the] lessons more and more and I have more understood the meaning of Kimber. I know I haven’t been the most respectful or nicest person… but I will try harder… You don’t know how grateful and thankful I am. I like how you try your hardest for us and always have a smile on your face. I like how you always have great and inspiring lessons and how they touch me. I love how you are always kind to others and always comfort us.” 14 year-old Senior class student to his teacher
